Upcoming Events

Victoria FleischmannRebecca Albright founded TLC for Families in 2004 after 16 years of practice as a clinical social worker in order to better meet the needs of the growing Tri-Lakes community.

She works with a wide range of mental health issues including adult and childhood mood disorders, anxiety disorders, attachment disorders, trauma related to sexual abuse, physical abuse and family of origin issues and loss. She continually works with clients on issues of self-confidence, self-worth and identity, life changes and life stresses.

During her graduate schooling at the University of Chicago, Rebecca focused primarily on learning family systems therapy, which continues to have a great influence on her practice. As a social worker, she works with clients to develop a treatment plan specifically designed for them. She draws on various treatment philosophies and techniques, such as: cognitive-behavioral interventions, strength and solution based therapies, experiential and narrative models and family of origin work.

After 7 years experience as a treatment coordinator for a residential treatment center, Rebecca decided to focus more on the prevention of mental health issues. She has become a parent educator and child development specialist in order to offer all families necessary resources for developing in healthy and happy ways. She facilitates workshops and classes for parents and families and offers parent and family consultation for specific issues and questions.

Misti Vazquez, LMT, CNMT – Wu Wei Thai

Misti VazquezMisti Vazquez, of Wu Wei Thai, is a registered and licensed massage therapist, specializing in Traditional Thai Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy. In January 2008, she traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand, where she studied advanced Thai massage.

Loosely translated, wu-wei means "effortless action." Going with the flow. Spontaneous, natural, effortless. Action that flows through us because it is the right action, appropriate to its time and place. Wu-wei provides harmony and balance, which is the central focus of traditional Thai massage.

Despite its popular name, traditional Thai massage is not like Western massage. Thai massage combines gentle therapeutic stretching, joint mobilization and deep tissue compression. Sessions are performed on a floor mat, with the client in comfortable, loose clothing. No oils or lotions are used. During the massage, the client’s body is slowly moved and stretched in order to relieve muscle pain and tension, improve circulation and provide greater flexibility and movement.
